Immerse yourself in the enchantment of this artwork, which pays homage to the Emus (known as Bigarrumdja in Yorta Yorta language), one of Maddy's family totems. Totems hold deep cultural significance for First Nations people, representing ancestral connections and spiritual ties to specific animals or natural elements. In this case, the Emus symbolises an important spiritual entity. The arrow symbols within the print depict emu footprints, further emphasizing their presence.

Emus were more than just birds; they were revered as significant spirits that soared through the skies, watching over the land. These magnificent creatures possessed incredible wisdom and aided First Nation communities in predicting events in the world around them. Emu in the Sky guided First Nations people, sharing their foresight and knowledge.
